The SOROBAN, known as the Japanese abacus in English, is considered to be the first calculator in Japan and has played a significant role in the cultural and educational development of the country.
"PHP" stands for "Peace and Happiness through Prosperity", which express the ultimate ideal of PHP Institute: to bring peace and fulfillment to human society by assuring both spiritual and material abundance. To this end, the Institute conducts studies on a wide range of subjects centered on man and society. It also organizes a variety of programs designed to promote the ideals of "PHP" and share the fruits of its research with people all over the world.
The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, now in its 27th year, is aimed at promoting grass-roots international exchange between Japan and other nations.
Since opening in October of 1996, the FIA has promoted international exchange and understanding and continues to hold many events each year to further cross-cultural interaction. The FIA has since its inception also offered such public services as passport issuance, conference and reception room lending, and more. We continue to strive to create a more culturally aware society and contribute to the internationalization of Fukui Prefecture and its citizens.

JAPAN RAILFAN CLUB (President: Hiroshi Suda) is a nationwide organization for railfans which is established on November 14, 1953. Our objectives are; sharing knowledge of railways, developing friendship between members, promoting hobby of railfanning and contributing for railway prosperity.
Fukui Prefecture is located in the center of the northern side of Honshu, the main island of Japan (Fukui population: 800,000 people, area: 4,200 km2 )
In Fukui Prefecture, there are over 160 non–profit organizations (NPOs) which are working to conserve, restore, and use satoyama landscape.
It is believed Sadasumi Tsubokawa, who was a high ranking samurai and the founder of the family in the 13th century, was responsible for guarding the former Emperor's residence.
Almost 700 years ago, Tsubokawa moved his family to the area. It is said that the head of the Tsubokawa family lead the seven families that controlled the village until it was incorporated into Maruoka city in modern times.
