Walking around the heritage railway tunnels! The 16th walking event of the former Japanese National Railways Hokuriku Line

2018.12.12

History

Passing by the Yamanaka signal station, walking in the mountains just before the tunnels.

I participated in the "Walking around the heritage railway tunnels: the 16th walking event of the former Japanese National Railways Hokuriku Line" this year (2018), which was canceled because of the typhoon last year.

I participated in the B course (15km). In the A course (10km), participants take a bus between the Imajo cycling terminal and Minami Imajo Station. In the B course, they walk the section viewing Imajo-juku, which remains the traces of a post town, and the rural scenery. Both participants walk between the site of Ogiri Station and the site of Suizu Station (Suizu Rest Area).

Speaking of heritages, the former Hokuriku Line was transferred to the Prefectural Road 207 itself that we just walked. The tunnels of the heritage railways are used as road tunnels.

There is the switchback sidetrack tunnel (dead end) at the back of the left of the Yamanaka tunnel. From here, there are six tunnels.

This is the nameplate of the Agency for Cultural Affairs register put on the wall of a tunnel.
